St. Gregory Palamas, Archbishop of Thessalonica, is commemorated on the Second Sunday in Lent. He lived in the 14th Century, a monastic, bishop, and great witness to our Faith. He suffered for it too. He is very important to Orthodox Christians in defending the teaching that God can really be experienced in His energies and actions with us and in the world He created. God can especially be known and experienced in the "prayer of the heart."
