Ministry Opportunities in St. Luke Church - some have details on sub-tabs

  • There are many ways to serve in our church, giving time, talent, and resources. Some of these ministries are choir, chanters, ushers, readers, fellowship & welcoming hospitality, teaching, baking or cooking, outside and inside care of our building and grounds, help with services, office, our Bookstore, and administration.
  • Our Archdiocese takes special collections in times of crisis, as well as Food for Hungry People each Lent and for our Sister Diocese of Bosra Huran in Syria each year.
  • Humanitarian and Missionary Outreach Beyond Local: We work with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) and Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC). IOCC is currently helping with needs in Ukraine.
  • Uganda Mission work is supported by our parish. One of our members leads a non-profit “Lift Up Uganda.” She and others are involved in medical and teaching mission trips each year. Recently they became involved in a clean water filter project there. We have also helped with seminary education of Uganda priests.
  • Humanitarian Outreach Local: We regularly collect for the Erie Food Bank and Sister Carmen Center. One of our deacons works with the local Habitat for Humanity.
  • St Tabitha Sewing Team: This group meets and makes altar cloths, icon hangings, and vestments (including some given to Uganda priests).
  • Orthodox Christians for Life. Our local chapter offers support in various ways to mothers and organizations seeking to protect unborn children.
  • Myrrh-bearers Intercessory Prayer Team. We have a women’s team that receives prayer requests regularly. They pray and pass these on to our clergy.
  • Native American Outreach - One of our members has helped with outreach collections of needed items, and we once delivered a truck load to South Dakota.
